Can you bring a baby carrier on a plane with Delta Air Lines when traveling with a baby?

Bringing a baby carrier on Delta Air Lines

You may bring a baby carrier (wrap, sling, soft carrier) on board with Delta. A few important points to know:

  • Carriers are allowed for travel and moving through the airport.
  • They are not FAA-certified safety restraints. Flight attendants may ask you to remove the carrier during taxi, takeoff and landing and hold the infant on your lap, or to use an approved child restraint if you have one.
  • If you purchase a seat for the child, you may use an FAA‑approved child safety seat (car seat) or an FAA‑approved harness such as CARES (CARES is approved for children 22–44 lb).
  • Policies on whether a carrier counts as a personal item or carry‑on can vary. Confirm with Delta before travel if you need to bring both a carrier and other hand baggage.
  • At the gate or during boarding, ask staff if they need you to remove or stow the carrier for safety or space reasons.

If you want absolute certainty for your flight, contact Delta customer service before travel so they can confirm current rules for your route and aircraft.
