Can you bring baby wipes on a plane with Etihad Airways when traveling with a baby?

Bringing baby wipes on Etihad Airways

Short answer: Yes — you can bring baby wipes when traveling with a baby on Etihad Airways.

Baby wipes (moist towelettes) are treated as a solid/paper product rather than a liquid gel, so they are normally allowed in both your carry-on and checked baggage. Airport security and airline staff expect parents to carry baby care items, and wipes are a standard, permitted item for diaper changes and general baby care during travel.

  • Carry-on bag: Keep a pack of wipes in your hand baggage for easy access during the flight and while moving through the airport.
  • Checked baggage: You may also pack larger or extra packs in checked luggage without problem.
  • Security screening: Security officers may occasionally ask you to open the pack for inspection or to remove a wet wipe container from a carry-on for screening. This is routine and not a refusal—simply follow their instructions.
  • Liquids rule: Wipes are not subject to the 100 ml/3-1-1 liquids restriction because they are not free-flowing liquids or gels. (Note: liquid items such as bottled breast milk, formula, or sterilized water have separate allowances for infants.)
  • Large travel quantities: If you carry an unusually large amount of liquid-like products (not common with wipes), security may question it. Normal consumer packs of baby wipes are fine.
  • Onboard use and disposal: Use wipes in the cabin for diaper changes, and dispose of used wipes in the lavatory bins or a sealed bag to keep the area tidy.
  • International variations: While Etihad allows wipes, final permission at security checkpoints is determined by the departure airport’s security rules. Rarely, some airports may request additional checks.

Helpful tips:

  • Pack at least one small opened pack in your carry-on for immediate use; keep extras in checked baggage.
  • If you have disposable nappies and other baby items, keep them together in an easy-to-reach pouch to speed up changes and security checks.
  • If you also carry hand sanitizer or wet wipes with high alcohol content, remember those items are treated as liquids and could be subject to limits — keep hand sanitizer amounts within allowed limits for cabin baggage or follow specific airport rules.
  • Be polite and cooperative if security asks you to present or open the wipes package—this speeds up screening and keeps travel smooth for you and your baby.

Bottom line: Bring baby wipes without worry—they are allowed on Etihad flights. Pack some in your carry-on for in-flight use, expect routine security checks, and you’ll be well prepared for traveling with your baby.
