# Dublin Airport (DUB) with Kids: Every Family Facility, Mapped

**Short answer:** Dublin Airport has kids' play corners on every pier, a baby feeding room beyond security in each terminal and two free, bookable sensory rooms near the 200 and 400 gates. It does not publish family restrooms, a family security lane or a family lounge, and buggy rental is only through a third-party company.

**Velivolo family score:** 6.5/10 (Good)

Dublin is a solid airport for young families: play corners by the gates, baby feeding rooms with microwaves and bottle warmers in both terminals, changing rooms beside most toilets and two sensory rooms you can book for free. Since September 2025 liquids up to 2 litres stay in your bag at security. What it does not publish is any family lane, family restroom or family lounge.

## Quick facts

- Dublin's two sensory rooms are free but must be booked in advance; walk-ins are not accepted.
- Each baby feeding room has a microwave and a bottle warmer, so you can warm milk or food airside.
- Since 17 September 2025, liquids up to 2 litres per container can stay in your bag at Dublin security.
- Terminal 1 has a gaming area with two PlayStations beside Gate 113, next to a play corner.
- Dublin advises adding an extra hour if you are checking a bag or a buggy.

## Security with children

- **Family lane:** Dublin Airport publishes no family lane. Since September 2025 both terminals use C3 scanners, so liquids, gels and laptops stay in your bag. Terminal 1 also has a mezzanine screening area open daily from 4am to mid-afternoon; other T1 passengers use the main security area downstairs.
- **Strollers and car seats:** Carry-on prams and buggies go through the X-ray, and staff hand-inspect anything that will not fit. Take your child out and put the contents in a tray. A child who can walk may go through the detector alone, or you can carry them, and you can ask for a hand search instead of the detector.
- **Formula, milk and baby food:** Since 17 September 2025 Dublin lets departing passengers carry liquids in containers up to 2 litres, with no limit on the number of containers and no clear bag needed. Dublin's security FAQ lists baby food or milk among the items allowed in containers of up to 2 litres each. Check the rules at the airport you fly home from, since not all airports have the new scanners.
- **Shoes:** Dublin Airport publishes no shoe exemption for children. Ankle-length footwear must still be removed and placed in the tray.
- **PreCheck:** Ireland has no TSA PreCheck equivalent. Dublin Airport says a dedicated Fast Track facility is planned for the new Terminal 1 mezzanine screening area.

## Getting between terminals

Dublin Airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 serves the 100, 200 and 300 gates and Terminal 2 the 400 gates, and Dublin also lists a play corner at the South Gates. Play corners are spread across the piers, so check the interactive map for the one nearest your gate. Dublin Airport recommends arriving 2 hours before short-haul flights and 3 hours before long-haul flights, and adding an extra hour if you are checking a bag or buggy. It publishes no walking times between terminals.

## Layover plans

### 1 to 2 hours — Short-haul departure: security, a warm bottle, then the play corner

1. Clear security; liquids and laptops stay in your bag.
2. Stop at your terminal's baby feeding room to warm a bottle.
3. Find the nearest play corner on the interactive map.

### 3 to 5 hours — Longer wait: plan a sensory room session and play breaks

1. Book a 60-minute sensory room session in advance if your child benefits from a calm space.
2. Use the play corners beside Gates 113, 206, 404 or 408.
3. Try the PlayStation gaming area beside Gate 113 with older kids.

### Long-haul — Long-haul departure: arrive 3 hours early and plan the return

1. Allow an extra hour if you are checking a buggy.
2. Remember the 2-litre liquids allowance applies at Dublin only; pack for stricter rules on the way home.
3. Arrange special assistance if you want an escort through security to the sensory room.

## Your rights

- **Lactation:** We could not confirm an Irish statute requiring airports to provide lactation rooms. Dublin Airport itself provides a baby feeding room beyond security in each terminal.
- **Changing tables:** No Irish statute on airport changing tables is confirmed here. Dublin Airport says baby changing rooms are located throughout both terminals, usually beside the toilets.
- **Liquids:** At Dublin, liquids in containers of up to 2 litres each are allowed in hand luggage since September 2025, with no limit on the number of containers, and Dublin's security FAQ lists baby food or milk among the items allowed. The rules may be stricter at the airport you fly back from.
- **Boarding:** Priority boarding for families is set by your airline rather than by the airport, so check your carrier's policy.
- **If it is missing:** Contact Dublin Airport on +353 1 944 0440, by WhatsApp on +353 87 175 4287, or through the contact form at dublinairport.com/contact-us.

## FAQ

### Does Dublin Airport have a kids play area?

Yes. Dublin Airport has kids' play corners on each pier with puzzles, games and interactive activities. The ones it names are beside Gate 113, Gate 206, Gate 404 and Gate 408 and at the South Gates, and Terminal 1 also has a gaming area with two PlayStations beside Gate 113. Because they sit by the gates, they are past security. The airport's interactive map shows the nearest one. Dublin publishes no age limits or opening hours, and there is no supervision, so plan to stay with your child.

### Where are the baby feeding rooms at Dublin Airport?

There is one dedicated baby feeding room in each terminal, both beyond security. In Terminal 1 it is beside the food and beverage area, and in Terminal 2 it is beside the retail area. Each has a high chair, comfortable vinyl seating, a microwave and a bottle warmer. Dublin Airport does not publish opening hours, so treat them as available during normal terminal hours, and ask any staff member if you cannot find yours. Baby changing rooms are also located throughout both terminals, usually beside the toilets.

### Does Dublin Airport have a sensory room?

Yes, two. Both are after security: one in Terminal 1 near the 200 gates and one in Terminal 2 near the 400 gates. Sessions are free and last 60 minutes, but they must be booked in advance online, and walk-ins are not accepted. You get a PIN by email to open the door. Inside are a bubble wall, infinity lights, tactile panels, bean bags and a calming corner. Each booking gives one travelling group exclusive use, with up to six people recommended, and no food or drink is allowed.

### Can I take liquids and baby milk through Dublin Airport security?

Yes. Since 17 September 2025, departing passengers at Dublin can carry liquids in containers up to 2 litres, with no limit on the number of containers and no clear plastic bag, and liquids and laptops can stay in your bag during screening. Dublin's security FAQ lists baby food and milk among the liquids you can carry in containers of up to 2 litres each. Be careful on the way home: many other airports have not switched to the new scanners yet, so check the rules where your return flight departs.

### How do I get a buggy through security at Dublin?

Carry-on prams and buggies have to go through the X-ray machine, and staff will hand-inspect anything that does not fit. Take your child out of the buggy and put its contents in a tray first. A child who can walk may go through the metal detector alone, or you can carry them, and you can ask for a hand search instead by telling staff before you walk through. Check with your airline whether the buggy goes to the gate, and allow an extra hour if checking it.

### Can I rent a stroller at Dublin Airport?

Not from the airport itself, but Dublin Airport points families to The Stork Exchange, a third-party company that rents buggies, prams, cradles and other baby and children's equipment. It delivers and collects at Terminal 1, Terminal 2, the car park or the car rental depot, and you book online or by phone. Pricing is set by the company rather than the airport, so arrange it well before your trip, especially for busy school holiday weeks. If you would rather bring your own buggy, check first with your airline whether it can go to the gate.

### Is there a family security lane at Dublin Airport?

Dublin Airport does not mention one on its family or security pages, so we have marked it unconfirmed rather than absent. What it does offer is flexibility at the checkpoint: you can ask for a hand search instead of going through the walk-through detector, and a child who can walk may go through alone or be carried. Both terminals now use C3 scanners, which means fewer things to unpack, and Terminal 1 has an extra mezzanine screening area open daily from 4am until mid-afternoon.

### When should we arrive at Dublin Airport with kids?

Dublin Airport recommends arriving 2 hours before short-haul flights and 3 hours before long-haul flights, and adding an extra hour if you are checking a bag or a buggy. Check your airline's check-in and bag-drop opening times too. With children it helps to keep all travel documents together in one easy-to-reach place and to pack everything your baby needs for the flight in your carry-on, since Dublin allows baby food and milk in containers of up to 2 litres each. Once airside, head for your terminal's feeding room or the nearest play corner.

### Where can we eat with kids at Dublin Airport?

Dublin Airport publishes no kids' menus, but its baby feeding rooms are the most useful stop for little ones: each has a microwave, a bottle warmer and a high chair, beside the food and beverage area in Terminal 1 and the retail area in Terminal 2. In March 2025 Dublin reopened a revamped Butlers Chocolate Cafe airside in Terminal 2 and an enlarged Uppercrust landside in Terminal 1. The airport has been replacing many outlets across both terminals, so check its shop and dine listings for what is open on your travel day.
