# Ontario Airport (ONT) with Kids: Every Family Facility, Mapped

**Short answer:** Ontario International has two private nursing rooms past security, across from Gate 206 in Terminal 2 and Gate 408 in Terminal 4, each with padded benches, an outlet and a changing area. Free short story dispensers sit near Gates 204 and 405. ONT lists no children's play area, sensory room, family lane or stroller rental.

**Velivolo family score:** 4.8/10 (Fair)

ONT is an easy Southern California alternative to LAX, with two terminals that each cover the basics. Both have a private nursing room past security on the second floor, run with UCR Health, with padded benches, an outlet and a changing area. Both also have a free Short Story Dispenser that prints a story on a long paper strip, a hit with older kids. There's no play area or sensory room listed, but ONT runs Flying With Autism seminars before major travel periods.

## Security with children

- **Family lane:** Ontario International publishes no family security lane. It takes part in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, and with the LeRoy Haynes Center it runs a Flying With Autism seminar before major travel periods to help families prepare. For screening help, contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours before you fly.
- **Strollers and car seats:** Strollers, baby carriers and car seats go through the X-ray, and anything too large is inspected by hand. Take your child out and carry them through the walk-through metal detector.
- **Formula, milk and baby food:** Formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Tell the officer at the start of screening and take them out of your bag.
- **Shoes:** Children 12 and under can leave their shoes, light jackets and headwear on during screening.
- **PreCheck:** Children 12 and under can use the TSA PreCheck lane with an enrolled parent or guardian. Teens 13 to 17 on the same reservation can too, if the PreCheck indicator appears on their boarding pass.

## Getting between terminals

ONT has two passenger terminals, Terminal 2 and Terminal 4, each with its own ticketing, security and gates. Facilities are mirrored: each has a nursing room, a Short Story Dispenser, an indoor pet relief area and Kabin work booths. Free Wi-Fi covers both terminals. The USO in historic Terminal 1 is reached by a free shuttle.

3. Refill bottles at a hydration station.

### 3–5 hours — Plan for no play area

## Your rights

- **Lactation:** As a medium hub, ONT falls under the FAM Act's requirement for a non-restroom lactation space past security in each terminal, and its two nursing rooms are built to California Building Code and ADA standards.
- **Changing tables:** ONT's nursing rooms each have a changing area; it doesn't publish where changing tables are in its restrooms.
- **Liquids:** TSA's national rule applies at Ontario Airport: formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Declare them at the start of screening.
- **Boarding:** Family boarding is set by your airline, not by Ontario Airport. Check your carrier before you fly.
- **If it is missing:** Ask terminal staff, or use the feedback form on ONT's website. For screening help, contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours ahead.
