# Reno-Tahoe Airport (RNO) with Kids: Every Family Facility, Mapped

**Short answer:** Reno-Tahoe International has Mamava XL lactation pods past security on both concourses, near Gate B1 and just past Subway on C, and three family restrooms with changing tables: one before security near the PGA Tour shop and one on each concourse. RNO lists no children's play area, sensory room, family lane or stroller rental.

**Velivolo family score:** 5.5/10 (Fair)

RNO is easy with kids: one terminal, one checkpoint and two concourses joined by the High Mountain Marketplace. Each concourse has a roomy Mamava XL pod, big enough for a stroller or wheelchair, unlocked through the Mamava app, and a stroller-friendly family restroom with a changing table. A third family restroom is before security near the PGA Tour shop. There's no play area, but Paws4Passengers therapy dogs roam the terminal.

## Security with children

- **Family lane:** RNO publishes no family security lane. There's one TSA checkpoint, on the first floor, which opens an hour to 90 minutes before the first departure, typically around 4am; the terminal itself is open 24 hours. TSA at RNO uses credential authentication technology, so boarding passes may not be needed at the checkpoint. RNO notes that infant and child nourishments are exempt from the 3-1-1 rule. Sunflower lanyards are available at airline ticket counters or RNO's Information Hub.
- **Strollers and car seats:** Strollers, baby carriers and car seats go through the X-ray, and anything too large is inspected by hand. Take your child out and carry them through the walk-through metal detector.
- **Formula, milk and baby food:** Formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Tell the officer at the start of screening and take them out of your bag.
- **Shoes:** Children 12 and under can leave their shoes, light jackets and headwear on during screening.
- **PreCheck:** Children 12 and under can use the TSA PreCheck lane with an enrolled parent or guardian. Teens 13 to 17 on the same reservation can too, if the PreCheck indicator appears on their boarding pass.

## Getting between terminals

RNO has one terminal, open 24 hours, with a single TSA checkpoint on the first floor. After screening, the High Mountain Marketplace on the second floor links Concourses B and C, where you'll also find a post-security pet relief area and ATMs. Free RNO wheelchairs are available in the Ticketing Hall.

- **Changing tables:** RNO confirms changing tables in its three family restrooms.
- **Liquids:** TSA's national rule applies at Reno-Tahoe: formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Declare them at the start of screening.
- **Boarding:** Family boarding is set by your airline, not by Reno-Tahoe. Check your carrier before you fly.
- **If it is missing:** Ask at RNO's Information Hub, or call Airport Communications at 775-328-6999. For screening help, contact TSA Cares ahead of your trip.

## FAQ

### Does Reno-Tahoe airport have a kids' play area?

RNO's amenities and accessibility pages don't list one. What it does have is the Paws4Passengers programme, with more than 30 therapy dog teams that visit the terminal, which kids tend to love. Keep in mind animals shouldn't come within 10 feet of the therapy dogs.

### Where can I breastfeed or pump at RNO?

Reno-Tahoe has two Mamava XL lactation pods, both past security: near Gate B1 on Concourse B, and just past Subway on Concourse C. They're roomy enough for a stroller or wheelchair and have a place to plug in a pump. Use the Mamava app to unlock them, reserve ahead, or adjust the lighting and airflow.

### Are there family restrooms at RNO?

Yes, three, all stroller and wheelchair accessible with changing tables. One is before security in the main lobby near the PGA Tour Golf Shop, and there's one past security on each of Concourses B and C.

### Does RNO have a sensory room?

RNO's site doesn't list one. It takes part in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme: ask your airline's ticket counter or RNO's Information Hub for a lanyard or wristband. Paws4Passengers therapy dogs also help ease travel anxiety.

### What time does security open at Reno-Tahoe?

RNO's single TSA checkpoint, on the first floor, opens an hour to 90 minutes before the first departure, usually around 4am. The terminal is open 24 hours.

### Can I rent a stroller at RNO?

RNO doesn't mention stroller rental. Smarte Carte luggage carts cost $7 but aren't allowed past security. Bring your own stroller and gate-check it under your airline's rules.

### Can we walk between Concourses B and C at RNO?

Yes. Both concourses are behind the same first-floor checkpoint, and the High Mountain Marketplace on the second floor connects them, so you can use the pod or family restroom on either concourse.

### What are the rules for formula and breast milk at RNO security?

RNO notes that infant and child nourishments are exempt from TSA's 3-1-1 liquids rule. Formula, breast milk and baby food can go in your carry-on over 3.4 oz; tell the officer at the start of screening and take them out of your bag.
