## Security with children

- **Family lane:** GEG says its TSA checkpoints open daily at 3:45am and stay open until the last flight boards, and that early mornings are among the busiest times. It recommends arriving at least two hours early and publishes no family lane. For screening help, contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours ahead.
- **Strollers and car seats:** Strollers, baby carriers and car seats go through the X-ray, and anything too large is inspected by hand. Take your child out and carry them through the walk-through metal detector.
- **Formula, milk and baby food:** Formula, breast milk, toddler drinks and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Tell the officer at the start of screening and take them out of your bag.
- **Shoes:** Children 12 and under can leave their shoes, light jackets and headwear on during screening. If your child goes through the body scanner, light jackets must come off and go on the X-ray belt.
- **PreCheck:** TSA PreCheck enrollment is available in the GEG terminal. TSA sets the rules for children in the PreCheck lane, so check its site before you fly.

## Getting between terminals

GEG's gates are on Concourse A (Southwest), Concourse B (Delta and United) and Concourse C (Alaska, Allegiant, American and Sun Country), with the A/B Rotunda serving A and B. A consolidated terminal is under construction, so follow the signs from Marshall, the airport's construction guide. Baggage carts are free near baggage claim and ticketing, and the garage's second floor has skybridge access to all concourses.

## Your rights

- **Lactation:** GEG is classed as a small hub in the FAA's 2025 boarding data. Since fiscal year 2023, the FAM Act's lactation-area rule (49 U.S.C. 47107(w)) covers small hubs that have held that status for three consecutive years, as well as medium and large hubs, as a condition of federal airport grants. GEG provides Mamava pods and a nursing suite.
- **Changing tables:** GEG lists changing tables in its Concourse C nursing suite but doesn't publish them elsewhere.
- **Liquids:** TSA's national rule applies at GEG: formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Declare them at the start of screening.
- **Boarding:** Family boarding is set by your airline, not by the airport. Check your carrier before you fly.
- **If it is missing:** Ask airport staff or your airline's agents for directions. For screening help, contact TSA Cares 72 hours ahead.

## FAQ

### Does Spokane airport have a play area for kids?

Spokane International's official site doesn't list a children's play area, so pack a few small toys or activities for the wait. The airport offers complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the terminal on the Spokane Int'l Guest network, which helps with downloads before you board. Baggage carts are free near baggage claim and ticketing, which frees up your hands for little ones. Because a new consolidated terminal is being built, follow the posted signs from Marshall, the airport's construction guide, to find the clearest route to your gate.

### Where are the nursing rooms at GEG?

Spokane International has two kinds of nursing space. Mamava pods in the A/B Rotunda offer private, on-the-go nursing or pumping close to Concourses A and B. On Concourse C, the airport has a larger nursing suite it describes as spa-like, with private nursing rooms, a communal lounge area and changing tables, designed to give parents a comfortable place to care for their families. GEG doesn't publish how many Mamava pods there are or the exact gate for the suite, so check the terminal map when you arrive.

### Are there family restrooms at Spokane International?

Yes. GEG says accessible family restrooms are available both before and after security, although it doesn't publish their exact locations, so check the airport's interactive terminal map, which marks restrooms, nursing suites and the Companion Care Room. All restrooms have at least one larger stall with grab bars. On Concourse C, the Companion Care Room has an adult-sized changing table with an electric lift, an accessible sink and toilet, and is reserved for travellers who need personal care assistance and their caregivers.

### Does GEG have a sensory room?

Spokane International's official site doesn't list a sensory room. It does offer AIRA for free, an app that connects blind or low-vision travellers with a trained agent who describes the way through the airport, the checkpoint and to shops and gates. Passengers can also connect to the airport Wi-Fi and download the ListenWiFi app to hear announcements directly on their phone, which can help in noisy areas. For help at the security checkpoint, contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours before your flight to arrange support.

### How does security work at Spokane airport with kids?

GEG's TSA checkpoints open daily at 3:45am and stay open until the last flight of the day boards. The airport says early mornings are some of its busiest times and recommends arriving at least two hours before departure. It publishes no family lane. TSA's national rules apply: children 12 and under can keep their shoes, light jackets and headwear on, strollers go through the X-ray and you carry your child through the metal detector. If your child goes through the body scanner, light jackets must come off and go on the X-ray belt. TSA PreCheck enrollment is available in the terminal if you want to sign up.

### Can I rent a stroller at Spokane airport?

GEG's official site doesn't mention stroller rental, so bring your own and gate-check it under your airline's rules, which are set by the carrier rather than the airport. A welcome extra is that baggage carts at Spokane International are free, so you can grab one near baggage claim or ticketing and push luggage from the curb to the gate. If you park in the garage, the second floor has a skybridge with access to all concourses, and elevators run to every floor, which makes the walk easier with a stroller.

### Where should we eat at GEG with kids?

Past security, Method Juice Cafe in the A/B Rotunda serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Thomas Hammer Coffee has spots in both the A/B Rotunda and Concourse C. On Concourse C, Meltz Extreme Grilled Cheese is an easy pick for children, and Puerto Tortas. Tacos. Cantina. and Iron Goat Brewing also serve meals. Tap & Pour is on Concourse B, and Indaba Coffee is in the main terminal. GEG's dining page lets you filter by meal period and location, so check it before you fly for the latest list.

### What are the rules for formula and breast milk at GEG security?

TSA's national rules apply at Spokane International. Formula, breast milk, toddler drinks and baby food, including puree pouches, are allowed in your carry-on in amounts over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and don't need to fit in your quart bag. Tell the officer at the start of screening and take them out of your bag to be screened separately. Ice packs and gel packs are allowed too, and your child doesn't need to be travelling with you for you to carry breast milk. You can ask for private screening at any time.
