# Anchorage Airport (ANC) with Kids: Every Family Facility, Mapped

**Short answer:** Anchorage's Ted Stevens airport has a nursery for young children at the start of the B Concourse with its own changing-table restroom, private nursing areas with sinks and changing tables in the C Concourse and on Level 1, and a Baby Vend machine at Gate C1. ANC lists no play area, family restroom, sensory room or stroller rental.

**Velivolo family score:** 5.2/10 (Fair)

ANC doesn't have a play area, but it does have something many bigger airports don't: a nursery, a secluded space for travellers with young children at the start of the B Concourse, with its own restroom and changing table. Private nursing and pumping areas with sinks, outlets and changing tables are in the C Concourse and on Level 1 behind the main escalators. Baby supplies are sold from the Baby Vend machine at Gate C1, and taxidermy and Alaska Native art keep kids looking around. Connecting passengers must re-clear security.

## Security with children

- **Family lane:** ANC publishes no family security lane. Connecting passengers should leave enough time to go through security again. The South Terminal is open 24 hours. For screening help, contact TSA Cares ahead of travel; for airport accessibility requests, ANC's ADA coordinator is at 907-266-2831.
- **Strollers and car seats:** Strollers, baby carriers and car seats go through the X-ray, and anything too large is inspected by hand. Take your child out and carry them through the walk-through metal detector.
- **Formula, milk and baby food:** Formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Tell the officer at the start of screening and take them out of your bag.
- **Shoes:** Children 12 and under can leave their shoes, light jackets and headwear on during screening.
- **PreCheck:** Children 12 and under can use the TSA PreCheck lane with an enrolled parent or guardian. Teens 13 to 17 on the same reservation can too, if the PreCheck indicator appears on their boarding pass.

## Getting between terminals

ANC has a South Terminal (domestic, Concourses A, B and C) and a North Terminal (international). The South Terminal is open 24 hours, with views of the Chugach Range from the check-in lobby. The Northern Lights Corridor connects the terminal with the Alaska Railroad depot and rental car facility. Baggage and freezer storage is available in the South Terminal next to Baggage Claim 4.
