Because airline child policies change — and parents shouldn’t have to hunt for answers.
You can bring and wear a baby carrier on United flights. Soft carriers are allowed for boarding and in the cabin, but they are not considered an FAA-approved child restraint for use in a seat. If you want the child secured in their own seat, you must use an FAA-approved car seat or CARES harness.
If you plan to secure your child in a seat, bring an FAA-approved restraint and check its certification label. If anything is unclear at the airport, ask United staff or gate agents—they’ll help you.
