Can you bring a car seat on a plane with Qatar Airways when traveling with a baby?

Bringing a car seat on Qatar Airways

Yes — you can bring and use a car seat (child restraint) on Qatar Airways, but there are important conditions to meet.

  • Seat purchase: To use a car seat on board you must buy a separate seat for the child (infants travelling as lap infants cannot use a car seat unless a seat is purchased).
  • Approved for aircraft use: The car seat must be certified for use on an aircraft — check the label or manual (it usually states aircraft approval).
  • Seat location: Car seats are normally installed in a window or standard seat only and are not permitted in exit rows.
  • Size and fit: The car seat must fit within the aircraft seat dimensions and allow proper installation with the aeroplane seat belt; check dimensions with the airline in advance.
  • Check and gate-check: You can check the car seat as baggage or gate-check it; many parents gate-check to use it in the airport and then hand it in at the aircraft door.
  • Advance notice: Contact Qatar Airways before travel to reserve a suitable seat and confirm their current rules for your route and aircraft type.
  • Installation guidance: Bring the car seat manual and be prepared to install it yourself; cabin crew can advise but will not install for you.
