Bringing a travel stroller on United Airlines

You can bring a travel stroller when flying with a baby on United. United generally allows one stroller per child free of charge, and strollers (and car seats) may be gate-checked at the aircraft door or checked at the ticket counter.

  • Gate-check: Most parents collapse the stroller and gate-check it at boarding; it is tagged and returned at the jet bridge on arrival in many airports (but sometimes delivered to baggage claim).
  • Carry-on: If your stroller is compact enough to meet United’s carry-on size limits, you may be able to store it in the overhead bin — otherwise plan to gate-check.
  • Car seats: You may also bring a car seat in addition to the stroller; if you plan to use a car seat on board, it must be FAA-approved and your child must have their own seat booked.
  • Practical tips: Collapse it properly, remove toys/diapers, attach your contact info, consider a protective stroller bag, and check with the gate agent at boarding to confirm where it will be returned.
