Can you bring baby food pouches on a plane with Lufthansa when traveling with a baby?

Bringing baby food pouches on Lufthansa

Yes — you can bring baby food pouches in your carry-on when travelling with an infant on Lufthansa. Baby foods (pouches, jars, formula, breast milk) are allowed in amounts greater than the usual 100 ml liquid limit when they are needed for the journey. Security screening applies.

  • Present items separately at the security checkpoint and tell the officer you have baby food.
  • Expect extra screening (X‑ray, swab or opening the pouch). Be prepared to have items tested or tasted.
  • Frozen or chilled items are okay if still frozen; melted ice packs are treated as liquids and screened accordingly.
  • Pack extras in case of delays or missed connections — you can also put more in checked baggage.
  • On board, flight attendants can help with warming or serving, but rules about heating vary by aircraft and crew discretion.

If you want absolute certainty for a specific route, check Lufthansa’s current child/baggage policy before departure.
