Can you bring baby medicine on a plane with Lufthansa when traveling with a baby?

Bringing baby medicine on a Lufthansa flight

Yes — you can bring baby medicine in your carry-on when flying with Lufthansa. EU and airline security rules allow medically necessary liquids (baby formula, breast milk, sterilized water and medicines) in quantities larger than 100 ml for infants. These items must be presented separately at security for inspection.

  • Carry meds in hand baggage so they’re available during the flight and protected from temperature/handling in checked luggage.
  • Declare at security that you have baby food, formula or liquid medicine above 100 ml; security staff will screen them (X‑ray or additional checks).
  • Keep medicines in original packaging and bring any prescriptions or a doctor’s note if available — not always required, but helpful for faster checks.
  • Syringes/needles needed for medication (for example insulin) are permitted in carry‑on but should be declared and ideally accompanied by a prescription or letter from the doctor.
  • Pack extra supply and any dosing tools (dropper, syringe) in case of delays.
  • Check destination rules and transit airport requirements before travel, as some countries have specific import rules for medicines.
