Bringing breast milk on Delta Air Lines

Delta allows you to bring breast milk when traveling with a baby. Here’s what to expect and how to prepare:

  • Breast milk is allowed in carry-on and is exempt from the 3.4 oz/100 ml liquid rule. You may carry a reasonable amount for your trip.
  • Declare it at the security checkpoint. Tell the TSA officer you have breast milk; containers may be X‑rayed or opened for inspection. Keep bottles and containers accessible.
  • Ice packs, frozen gel packs and coolers are permitted to keep milk cold. If fully frozen they usually pass screening; partially frozen or thawed packs may need additional inspection.
  • Breast pumps and accessories are allowed in carry-on. Pack tubing and parts in an accessible place for screening.
  • Onboard, flight attendants can often help with hot water to warm bottles, but they typically do not heat bottles in a microwave or refrigerate personal items.
  • Label containers and use leak‑proof bottles or bags. Consider packing extra in case of delays and keep milk with you rather than checked baggage.

If you want, check Delta’s latest policies before travel and arrive a bit earlier for screening. Safe travels with your little one!
