Can you bring formula on a plane with Delta Air Lines when traveling with a baby?

Bringing baby formula on Delta Air Lines

Yes — you can bring formula when flying with Delta. Delta follows TSA rules: infant formula, breast milk, juice and powdered formula are allowed in carry-on bags in reasonable quantities even if over 3.4 oz (100 ml). You should declare these items to the TSA officer at security screening.

  • At security: Tell the security officer you have formula, breast milk or juice. These items will be screened separately and may undergo X-ray or additional inspection. Powders may be opened for inspection or tested.
  • Ice packs & frozen milk: Allowed to keep items cold. If frozen solid, they may be treated differently than partially frozen or liquid packs.
  • On board: You may use and carry as much formula as is reasonable for your trip. Flight attendants can often warm bottles using hot water but may not be able to heat bottles in ovens or provide sterilization — ask politely.
  • Packing tips: Carry pre-measured scoops, extra formula/bottles, and spills bags. Keep formula in your carry-on rather than checked baggage to avoid loss and temperature issues.
  • International travel: Be aware customs or local rules may vary — carry enough and keep documentation (prescription for special formula if needed).

If you want, ask Delta customer service ahead of travel for any specific aircraft or international guidance. Declaring items at security and carrying reasonable amounts will make screening quicker and keep your baby comfortable on the trip.
