Can you bring a portable crib on a plane with Etihad Airways when traveling with a baby?

Portable crib (travel cot) on Etihad — what you need to know

Etihad accepts baby equipment such as portable cribs/travel cots, but how you bring one depends on size, aircraft and cabin rules. A few practical points to help you plan:

  • Check or gate‑check: Most compact, collapsible travel cots are accepted as checked or gate‑checked baby equipment. You usually cannot set them up in the cabin unless they are an approved bassinet provided by the airline.
  • Bassinet vs travel cot: Bassinets (airline‑installed) are limited and must be requested in advance and used only within weight/age limits. A personal portable crib is for use on the ground and must be stowed or checked during the flight.
  • Child restraint rules: If you want the baby to travel in their own seat, you must use an approved child restraint system (car seat) that meets aviation safety standards — not a travel cot.
  • Before you fly: Contact Etihad (or your travel agent) ahead of time to confirm acceptance, size/weight limits, and whether it’s carried free as baby equipment on your route. Also check rules for connecting airlines.
  • Packing tips: Protect the crib in a cover, label it, take a photo at check‑in (in case of damage), and arrive early for check‑in/boarding.
