Can you bring a stroller on a plane with Lufthansa when traveling with a baby?

Bringing a stroller on a Lufthansa flight

Yes — Lufthansa normally allows you to bring a stroller (pushchair) when traveling with a baby. Here are the practical points to help you plan:

  • Allowance: One stroller or pushchair per child is usually accepted free of charge in addition to infant baggage allowances.
  • Check-in vs gate-check: You can check a stroller at the check-in desk or bring it to the aircraft door and have it gate‑checked. Gate‑checked strollers are returned at the aircraft door on arrival (or at the baggage belt if handled in the hold).
  • Small/umbrella strollers in cabin: Very compact, fully folded strollers may be allowed in the cabin if they fit in the overhead bin and the cabin crew permits it — this is not guaranteed and depends on space.
  • Label and protect: Collapse and securely fasten the stroller, remove loose items, and attach an identification tag. Consider a protective cover for checked/stored strollers.
  • Car seats: Car seats are also accepted; if you want to use one onboard it must be approved for aircraft use and you must have bought a separate seat for the child.
  • Tip: Contact Lufthansa before travel if you have a special oversized stroller, electric stroller, or need confirmation for a specific route — policies can vary by aircraft and airport.
