Because airline child policies change — and parents shouldn’t have to hunt for answers.
Short answer: You can usually bring a toddler bed rail to the airport, but whether it can travel as a carry-on or must be checked — and whether fees apply — depends on Avelo’s baggage rules and the rail’s size. You cannot use a bed rail as an approved child restraint on the airplane.
Most carriers (and TSA) will allow non-prohibited child items through security and onto the aircraft if they fit the airline’s size/weight rules or are checked. Bed rails are not FAA‑certified for use in seats, so they must not be relied on for in-flight safety.
If you want, tell me the rail’s dimensions and whether you prefer carry-on or checked — I’ll help you draft what to ask Avelo when you call.
