Can you bring formula on a plane with Virgin Atlantic when traveling with a baby?

Bringing baby formula on a plane with Virgin Atlantic

Yes — you may bring baby formula, expressed breast milk and baby food in your carry-on when flying with Virgin Atlantic. These items are exempt from the 100 ml liquid rule but must be declared at security screening for separate inspection.

  • Declare the items at the security checkpoint so staff can screen them (X‑ray or hand inspection).
  • Bring a reasonable quantity for the duration of travel, plus some extra for delays.
  • Powdered formula is permitted and usually easier to handle through screening.
  • Prepared bottles or breast milk may be subject to additional screening and may need to be opened for inspection.
  • Ice packs or frozen bottles are allowed if frozen solid when screened; partially thawed packs may be treated as liquids.
  • Onboard help: cabin crew will normally assist with hot water if needed, but always carry what you need for feeding during boarding and any delays.

Tip: Pack extra bottles, spoons and cleaning wipes, label containers clearly, and keep the baby’s boarding pass or proof of age handy. Relax — airport and cabin staff are used to helping families and will guide you through security and inflight needs.
