Can you bring a baby carrier on a plane with Emirates when traveling with a baby?

Bringing a baby carrier on Emirates

Yes — you can bring a baby carrier (slings, soft front/back carriers) when flying with Emirates, but there are important safety and policy points to know.

  • Soft baby carriers are allowed on board as personal items or carry-on, and may be subject to security screening. They are convenient for boarding and moving through the airport.
  • Soft carriers are not an approved aircraft child restraint. During taxi, takeoff and landing the infant must either be held in your lap or secured in an approved child restraint device (CRS) or follow the airline’s lap-infant procedures — a soft sling does not replace a certified car seat.
  • Car seats/CRS are permitted if you purchase a separate seat for the infant. The CRS must be certified for aircraft use (look for the manufacturer’s label saying it is approved for use on aircraft) and must fit an aircraft seat.
  • Strollers, pushchairs and car seats can usually be gate-checked free of charge. You can use them up to the gate and they’ll be returned at the aircraft door or at baggage claim depending on the airport.
  • Bassinets are available on many long‑haul Emirates flights but must be requested in advance and are subject to availability and size/weight limits.

Practical tips:

  • Tell Emirates when you book or before travel that you’ll have infant equipment.
  • Bring the car seat manual or look for the approval label if you intend to use it onboard.
  • At security, be prepared to remove the baby from the carrier and to have the carrier screened.
  • Ask gate staff about gate‑checking options and where to store the carrier during flight if needed.
