Nuna TRVL LX Review
The Nuna TRVL LX is Nuna's step-up compact stroller: rated from birth to 50 lbs, with a near-flat recline and calf support that converts the seat to a carriage position, never-flat airless tires with front and rear suspension, and a direct click-in for Nuna PIPA series infant car seats with no adapters. It folds with one hand and stands on its own, but at 14.25 x 21 x 27 inches folded it is a gate-check stroller rather than a carry-on, and the $600 price puts it in premium territory.

TRVL LX Specifications

Airless tires with front and rear suspension and one-handed steering roll smoothly through terminals and jet bridges.

Gate Check & Airline Info
Nuna does not market the TRVL LX as carry-on size. At 14.25 x 21 x 27 inches folded, it is larger than the 22 x 14 x 9 inch carry-on limit at Delta, United and American and the 24 x 16 x 10 inch limit at Southwest. Check your airline's carry-on limit and expect to gate-check, and see Velivolo's overhead bin size guide for more on carry-on sizes. Use the included carry bag at the gate to protect the frame, canopy and leatherette accents.

Who Should Buy the Nuna TRVL LX
Nuna PIPA families
If you already own a Nuna PIPA series infant car seat, the TRVL LX clicks it on directly with no adapters, giving you a compact travel system from day one.
Parents who want a smoother compact ride
Never-flat airless tires with front and rear suspension and one-handed steering make the TRVL LX feel more substantial than many compact strollers on sidewalks and terminal floors.
Families who gate-check and road trip
The one-hand, self-standing fold, quick-release wheels and included carry bag make the TRVL LX easy to gate-check or pack in a trunk. It is not a carry-on stroller, so it suits families who are comfortable checking it at the gate.
Key Features of the TRVL LX
Shadow Reel Recline with Carriage Mode
Nuna's Shadow Reel recline allows customizable seat positions, from more upright for engaged walks to near-flat for naps. The calf support raises to convert the seat to a carriage position for younger babies.
Direct PIPA Car Seat Click-In
Nuna says the TRVL LX connects directly with Nuna PIPA series infant car seats with just a click and no adapters, creating a compact travel system.
Never-Flat Airless Tires and Suspension
Airless tires mean no flats on the road, and progressive front and rear-wheel suspension smooths out bumps. A one-touch rear-wheel brake makes stops simple.
One-Hand, Self-Standing Fold
The TRVL LX folds with one hand and stands on its own when folded. Quick-release wheels let you make the fold even more compact, and the armbar doubles as a carry handle.
Extendable UPF 50+ Canopy
The water-repellent canopy extends for more coverage, is rated UPF 50+, and has multiple windows so you can check on your child.
Carry Bag and Rotating Armbar Included
Nuna includes a carry bag for hands-free travel and storage, plus a removable, rotating armbar that fits kids of all sizes.
Real-World Performance
Airport travel
Good. Smooth wheels and a self-standing fold help at the terminal, and the carry bag protects it when gate-checked. It is not carry-on size per Nuna's dimensions.
City sidewalks
Excellent. Airless tires with front and rear suspension and one-handed steering handle curbs and cracks well.
Public transit
Good. The 21 inch width and one-hand fold work on buses and trains, but about 17 lbs with canopy and armbar is more to carry on stairs.
Newborn use
Excellent. Rated from birth with near-flat recline and carriage mode, and it clicks with Nuna PIPA series infant seats with no adapters.
Grocery shopping
Fair. The easy-access basket works for small loads, but the manual limits it to 10 lbs.
Road trips
Good. Quick-release wheels make the fold more compact for trunks, and the carry bag keeps it clean.
How the TRVL LX Compares
The original Nuna TRVL costs less and weighs 13.6 lbs (per our review). The TRVL LX adds never-flat airless tires with front and rear suspension, the Shadow Reel recline with carriage mode, leatherette accents and a rotating armbar. Choose the TRVL to save money, and the TRVL LX for a smoother ride and carriage mode.
Read full reviewThe Bugaboo Butterfly 2 costs about the same ($599 in our review) and weighs 16 lbs per our review. It folds small enough for the overhead bin on most full-size jets, while the TRVL LX focuses on ride comfort, carriage mode and direct PIPA click-in. Pick the Butterfly 2 if you want to bring the stroller on board, and the TRVL LX if you gate-check anyway.
Read full reviewThe UPPAbaby Minu V3 costs less ($450 to $500 in our review) and weighs 16.7 lbs per our review. The TRVL LX has a stated 14.6 lbs without canopy and armbar, airless tires and direct click-in for Nuna PIPA seats. Compare both reviews for fold size and the car seat you already own.

Gate-check it in the carry bag
Nuna includes a carry bag with the TRVL LX. Use it at the gate to protect the leatherette accents and canopy while the stroller rides in the cargo hold.
Pop off the wheels for tight trunks
Nuna says quick-release wheels make the fold even more compact. On road trips or in small rental cars, remove them to free up trunk space.
Practice the PIPA click-in at home
If you are traveling with a Nuna PIPA series infant seat, practice clicking it onto the TRVL LX before your trip so curbside transfers are quick.
Plan for the full weight
The 14.6 lb figure excludes the canopy and armbar. If your airline or shuttle has weight limits for gate-checked items, plan on about 17 lbs with both attached.
