Family lane
Orlando Sanford's official map shows the TSA PreCheck checkpoint on Level 2. No checkpoint hours or family lane are published. For a TSA Passenger Support Specialist, contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours before travel at (855) 787-2227.
Strollers and car seats
Strollers, baby carriers and car seats go through the X-ray, and anything too large is inspected by hand. Small children can be carried through the metal detector.
Formula, milk and baby food
Formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Tell the officer at the start of screening and take them out of your bag.
Shoes and jackets
Children 12 and under can keep their shoes, light jackets and headwear on during screening. If your child goes through the body scanner, light jackets must come off and go on the X-ray belt.
TSA PreCheck with kids
SFB's Level 2 map shows a TSA PreCheck checkpoint, and the airport's TSA page explains how to enroll in PreCheck.
Arrive and check in
Check in on Level 1, then take the escalator or elevator up to the Level 2 checkpoint.
Pick up a Sunflower lanyard at the Information Booth if it helps.
At the checkpoint
Fold the stroller for the X-ray and carry small children through the metal detector.
Request TSA Passenger Support 72 hours ahead if needed.
Feed, change and play
Use a Mamava pod near Gates 10 and 11 or near Brookstone, and let kids play at the Children's Play Area on Level 2.
At the gate
Gate-check rules for strollers are set by your airline, not by the airport. Check your carrier before you fly.
Orlando Sanford publishes nothing about stroller rental.
Not published by SFB; set by each airline.
Transfers
None needed (single terminal)
Orlando Sanford International has one terminal on two levels. Level 1 has check-in, baggage claim, rental cars and the Information Booth. All gates are on Level 2: Gates 1 to 4 in the east concourse, Gates 5 to 9 in the center just east of security, and Gates 10 to 16 at the far west end. Allow extra walking time if your gate is at either end.
Layover playbook
What to actually do, by how long you have.
Know your rights
Lactation rooms
FAA data lists SFB as a small hub. Since fiscal year 2023, the FAM Act's lactation-area rule (49 U.S.C. 47107(w)) covers small hubs that have held that status for three consecutive years, as well as medium and large hubs, as a condition of federal airport grants. SFB has Mamava lactation pods.
Changing tables
SFB does not publish which restrooms have baby changing tables.
Milk and formula
TSA's national rule applies at Orlando Sanford: formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Declare them at the start of screening.
Boarding
Family boarding is set by your airline, not by the airport. Check your carrier before you fly.
If the facility is not there
Ask at the Information Booth or call the airport at 407-585-4000. For screening help, contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours before travel at (855) 787-2227.

Yes. Orlando Sanford International's official Level 2 terminal map shows the Children's Play Area on the gate level, next to the escalator down to Bag Claims 6 to 8 and beside the Nature's Table space. The airport doesn't publish hours, ages or fees for the play area. Because it sits on the same level as the gates, it is an easy place to let kids burn off energy before boarding.
Yes. Orlando Sanford lists nursing pods as a family perk, and its official terminal maps mark Mamava lactation pods on both levels of the terminal. On Level 2, the map shows one pod near Gates 10 and 11 in the west wing and another near Brookstone, on the way to Gates 1 to 4. Level 1 also shows two pods. Mamava pods are small private spaces for pumping or nursing, so they work well for a quick feed. Ask at the Information Booth if you can't find one.
Yes. Orlando Sanford lists family restrooms among its family perks, and its terminal maps show restrooms on both Level 1 and Level 2. The airport doesn't publish which of those restrooms are family restrooms or which have baby changing tables, so ask at the Information Booth or pack a portable changing pad as a backup. On the gate level, the official map shows restrooms near the Children's Play Area and near the west wing gates, which is useful when you need a quick stop.
Orlando Sanford's official website does not mention a sensory room. It does take part in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program: a free, voluntary green lanyard with yellow sunflowers that signals you may need extra patience, with no proof of disability required. Pick one up at the Information Booth, which is usually staffed about two hours before departures, or request one by email at least two weeks before travel. The lanyard does not give expedited screening, but it can make the day calmer.
Orlando Sanford's terminal map shows a TSA PreCheck checkpoint on Level 2, between the escalator from the garage and the gates. The airport doesn't publish checkpoint hours or a family lane on its site. If your child has a disability or medical condition, you can request a TSA Passenger Support Specialist at least 72 hours before departure through the TSA Cares form or by calling (855) 787-2227. That support helps you through screening, but it is not expedited screening and does not skip any checks.
Orlando Sanford's official website does not mention stroller rental, so bring your own stroller or a baby carrier, especially if you are heading on to Central Florida theme parks. Most airlines let you check a stroller at the gate, but that rule is set by your airline, not by the airport, so check your carrier's policy before you fly. For other special needs, the airport asks travelers to call (407) 585-4009 before their flight, and wheelchairs are arranged through your airline.
On the gate level, Sanford Tap serves salads, breakfast and burgers between Gates 10 and 11, Zaza offers Cuban coffee, sandwiches and breakfast in the same area, and Sanford Market between Gates 11 and 12 has snacks and grab-and-go sandwiches. JetBox in the Gates 5 to 9 waiting area is described as the first option after security. Before security, Brew Landing on Level 1 near Baggage Claims 1 and 2 has breakfast and burgers. Hollerbach's and Nature's Table are listed as coming soon.
TSA's national rules apply at Orlando Sanford. Formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed in your carry-on in amounts over 3.4 ounces (100 ml), and they do not need to fit in your quart-size liquids bag. Tell the TSA officer at the start of screening and take these items out so they can be screened separately. Clear bottles are easier to screen than pouches. Children 12 and under can keep their shoes, light jackets and headwear on during screening. If your child goes through the body scanner, light jackets must come off and go on the X-ray belt.
