RSW's family strength is feeding and changing: four private Nursing Stations, one in each concourse and one in the main terminal's West Atrium before security, all with a lounge chair, sink, toddler seat and baby changing station. Beyond that it's thin. The official terminal maps show no children's play area, and there's no sensory room, family security lane or stroller rental on the airport's site. Each concourse has its own checkpoint, so know which one your airline uses.

Security

Getting Through RSW Security With Kids

Family lane

RSW publishes no family security lane. Each concourse (B, C and D) has its own TSA checkpoint, which stays open until about 30 minutes before that concourse's last scheduled departure and never past midnight. RSW asks travellers to be in the security line two hours before departure. For extra help, contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours ahead, and RSW takes part in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program.

Strollers and car seats

Strollers, baby carriers and car seats go through the X-ray, and anything too large is inspected by hand. Take your child out and carry them through the walk-through metal detector.

Formula, milk and baby food

Formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Tell the officer at the start of screening and take them out of your bag.

Shoes and jackets

Children 12 and under can leave their shoes, light jackets and headwear on during screening.

TSA PreCheck with kids

Children 12 and under can use the TSA PreCheck lane with an enrolled parent or guardian. Teens 13 to 17 on the same reservation can too, if the PreCheck indicator appears on their boarding pass.

Know your rights

What RSW Owes Your Family by Law

Lactation rooms

As a medium hub, RSW falls under the FAM Act's requirement for a non-restroom lactation space past security. It has a private Nursing Station in each of its three concourses.

Changing tables

RSW's Nursing Stations each include a baby changing station; the airport doesn't publish whether standard restrooms have changing tables.

Milk and formula

TSA's national rule applies at RSW: formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed over 3.4 oz (100 ml) and do not need to fit in the quart bag. Declare them at the start of screening.

Boarding

Family boarding is set by your airline, not by RSW. Check your carrier before you fly.

If the facility is not there

Use a silver courtesy phone in the terminal or call 239-590-4810 for paging. For screening help, call TSA Cares at least 72 hours before your flight.

Questions

RSW With Kids: Common Questions

RSW doesn't list one. Its official main terminal and concourse maps show restaurants, shops, restrooms and Nursing Stations, but no children's play area in Concourses B, C or D, and the airport's site doesn't mention one. RSW doesn't state that none exists, so treat it as unconfirmed. If your child needs to move, the LEGO store in Concourse D and the airport's Art in Flight exhibits are worth a look.

Each has a leather lounge chair and ottoman, a small table, a sink with a touchless faucet, a cube chair and toddler seat, a baby changing station and dimmable lighting, so you can bring an older sibling in with you.

RSW's site doesn't list one. The airport is a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, so travellers can wear a Sunflower lanyard to let staff know they may need extra time or help. For screening support, contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours before your flight.

RSW asks travellers to be in line two hours before departure. Standard TSA family rules apply: kids 12 and under keep their shoes on, and formula and breast milk are allowed over 3.4 oz.

RSW doesn't mention stroller rental anywhere on its site. Its FAQ also notes that lockers and item storage aren't permitted in the terminal. Bring your own stroller and gate-check it under your airline's rules.

TSA's national rules apply. Formula, breast milk and baby food are allowed in your carry-on above the 3.4 oz (100 ml) limit and don't need to fit in the quart bag.
